Coyote: The coyote is a member of the dog family that is usually a light tan or gray color. When threatened, a coyote tail will bristle and rise up. Coyotes have been known to jump fences between 7-10 feet. Do not attempt to play with or feed a coyote. The Navajo have many coyote stories, which are to be told only during the winter months. Bull Snake: The bull snake is non-venomous and usually yellow or brown in color. These snakes can grow up to 7 feet. Although it may be fun to play with them, please leave them to themselves.

Antelope Jack Rabbits: Jack rabbits are typically 2 feet tall with tall pointed ears and colored gray with white lower sides. They tend to be more active at night and are vegetarian animals. Jack rabbits are elusive creatures that blend into the environment and disappear quickly. For more information see:

Horned Owl: The horned owl averages just over 2 feet tall with a wingspan stretching 4 to 5 feet. They eat small animals, including jack rabbits, mice, snakes, scorpions, or other birds. For pictures see:

 

 

 

Northern Arizona Spiny Lizards: The lengths of these lizards range from 2¼ to 5¼ inches and boast of dark collars either around or underneath their necks. They are usually gray, tan, or blue with a stripe down their backs and single yellow scales scattered on the sides. Should you catch one, they do bite and yes, you can accidentally remove its tail.

Ravens: Ravens are a member of the crow family. They are characterized by a wedge shaped tail as opposed to a fan shaped tail. Ravens prefer solitude to a living in a flock, although during migration, they do fly together. Ravens eat small animals, fruits, garbage and carrion.
